The last weekend of August found the European Cup in rafting moving to the Czech Republic. The famous Devil Streams, the location of the 2003 Worlds, hosted two challenging downriver events - a shorter R4 race on Saturday and a longer R6 competition on Sunday.
Top teams from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany and the Netherlands, including five teams which took part in the Banja Luka event earlier this year, tried to find the fastest way down. Czech teams dominated the R4 competition proving the local knowledge of the demanding rapids. WD Kuhebumi won just split of a second ahead of Hanace Rafters A and WD CVOK. The R4 category was not organized for women due to safety reasons. Kuhebumi proved their class again on Sunday by winning the R6 race ahead of WD TR WC and WD TR CVOK. Both the Slovakian and German champions finished in the top ten. In the ladies category WD TR TEVA Tygrici took the victory while RK STAN Zeny came second and Hanace Rafters Neonky third.
